Victor Hugo


Victor Marie Hugo (February 26, 1802-May 22, 1885) is considered one of the best known French writers of the Romantic Movement. During his life, Hugo gained popularity for his plays, poetry, and novels. Among many volumes of poetry, Les Contemplations and La Légende des Siècles are considered his greatest works in this form. His best known novels are The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (1831) and Les Misérables (1862).
