French Revolution:Flight of the King
The King and Queen attempted to flee Paris in an attempt to lead troops to counter the revolution. They were recognized and arrested in Varennes. After this attempt, popular hostility toward the French monarchy gained more momentum. The Following documents are contemporary accounts of their attempted flight in June of 1791.
