		Larrazolo, Octaviano Ambrosio
    Larrazolo, Octaviano Ambrosio, a Senator from New Mexico; born in Allende, State of Chihuahua, Mexico, December 7, 1859; came to the United States in November 1870 under the protection of the Right Reverend J. B. Salpointe, bishop of Arizona and subsequently archbishop of Santa Fe, N. Mex.; attended St. Michael’s College at Santa Fe in 1875 and 1876; taught in the public schools at San Elizario, El Paso County, Tex., 1878-1884; appointed clerk of the United States District and Circuit Courts for the Western District of Texas at El Paso, Tex., in 1885; elected clerk of the district court at El Paso in 1886 and 1888; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1888; elected district attorney for the western district of Texas in 1890 and reelected in 1892; moved to Las Vegas, N. Mex., in January 1895 and resumed the practice of law; unsuccessful Democratic candidate for election as a Delegate to Congress in 1890, 1900, and 1908, unsuccessfully contesting the election of William H. Andrews in 1908; affiliated with the Republican Party in 1910; elected as a Republican Governor of New Mexico in 1918; served in the New Mexico House of Representatives in 1927 and 1928; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Andrieus A. Jones and served from December 7, 1928, to March 3, 1929; was not a candidate for the full term; resumed the practice of law; died in Albuquerque, N.
