Taylor, Glen Hearst, a Senator from Idaho; born in Portland, Multnomah County, Oreg., April 12, 1904; moved to a homestead near Kooskia, Idaho, in 1906; attended the public schools of Idaho; joined a dramatic stock company in 1919; owner and manager of various entertainment enterprises since 1926; sheet metal mechanic in an ordnance plant, San Francisco, Calif., 1942-1944; unsuccessful Democratic candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1940 and 1942; elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate in 1944 for the term commencing January 3, 1945, and ending January 3, 1951; unsuccessful Progressive candidate for election as Vice President of the United States in 1948.
