Moore’s Creek Bridge, Battle of
Moore’s Creek Bridge, Battle of (N.C.) On 27 February 1776, Colonel James Moore’s 1,900 Continentals and N.C. militia defeated Donald McDonald’s 1,700 Scottish Tories. N.C. losses: 1 killed, 1 wounded. Scots Tory losses: 50 killed or wounded, 850 captured, 1,850 firearms. The victory crushed N.C.’s Tories, who remained quiescent until after the fall of Charles Town, S.C.
