Campaign of 1908

In 1908 there were, in addition to the two major parties, the well-established minor parties, namely,—the People’s Party, the Prohibition Party, the Socialist Party, and the Socialist Labor Party. An entirely new party appeared also. It announced itself as the Independence Party. It was an outgrowth of the Independence League, led by Mr. William R. Hearst of New York.
