Wadleigh, Bainbridge
Wadleigh, Bainbridge, a Senator from New Hampshire; born in Bradford, Merrimack County, N.H., January 4, 1831; attended the common schools and Kimball Union Academy, Plainfield, N.H.; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1850 and commenced practice in Milford, Hillsborough County, N.H.; served six terms as town moderator; member of the State house of representatives in 1855, 1856, 1859, 1860, and 1869-1872; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1873, to March 3, 1879; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1878; resumed the practice of law in Boston, Mass., where he died January 24, 1891; interment in West Street Cemetery, Milford, N.H.
