Morgan, John Jordan
Morgan, John Jordan (father-in-law of John Adams Dix), a Representative from New York; born in Queens County, N.Y., in 1770; attended the public schools; member of the State assembly in 1819; elected as a Democrat to the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Congresses (March 4, 1821-March 3, 1825); elected to the Twenty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Cornelius W. Lawrence and served from December 1, 1834, to March 3, 1835; again a member of the State assembly in 1836 and 1840; died in Port Chester, Westchester County, N.Y., on July 29, 1849; interment in Trinity Churchyard, New York City, N.Y.
