Nomination of Arthur W. Fort To Be an Assistant Secretary of State July 7, 1989
The President today announced his intention to nominate Arthur W. Fort to be an Assistant Secretary of State (Administration). He would succeed Sheldon J. Krys.
Mr. Fort has served as Commander of the Pacific division of the Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Commander of the Pacific Fleet Seabees. He has served as Director of Construction for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Commander of all Navy Seabee operations in the Atlantic Ocean/Mediterranean area, and as an AssistantCommander of Construction and Contracts for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He has also served as an operations officer, executive officer, and commanding officer of a Seabee construction battalion.
Mr. Fort graduated from Auburn University (B.S., 1958) and Stanford University (M.S., 1967).
