Green Mountain Boys
Green Mountain Boys During the conflict in Vermont between speculators holding land titles from N.H. and N.Y., Ira, Levi, and Ethan Allen formed this group in 1772 to harass settlers defending N.Y. titles. N.Y. title-holders who ignored the Boys’ warnings were beaten, dispossessed from their farms, or otherwise terrorized out of Vt. Ethan Allen and some of the Boys captured Fort Ticonderoga (1775).
