Johnson, Charles, a Representative from North Carolina; born in Chowan County, N.C.; pursued an academic course; engaged as a planter; served in the State senate 1781-1784, 1788-1790, and 1792; elected to the Seventh Congress and served from March 4, 1801, until his death in Bandon, near Edenton, Chowan County, N.C., July 23, 1802; interment in Edenton Cemetery.
