Legarda Y Tuason, Benito, a Resident Commissioner from the Philippine Islands; born in Manila, Philippine Islands, September 27, 1853; attended the Jesuits’ College and St. Tomas University of Manila; member of Aguinaldo’s cabinet at Malolos and vice president of the Filipino Congress; resigned these positions to return to Manila in December 1898; appointed a member of the Philippine Commission February 1, 1901, and served until elected a Resident Commissioner; elected as a Resident Commissioner to the United States in 1907; reelected in 1909 and served from November 22, 1907, to March 3, 1913; after his term in Congress was not a candidate for renomination in 1912; went to France; died at Evian-les-Bains, France, August 27, 1915; interment in Cementerio del Norte, Manila, Philippine Islands.
