The Republic is proclaimed.
A government has been selected by acclamation.
It is composed of the citizens: Emmanuel Arago, Crémieux, Jules Favre, Jules Ferry, Gambetta, Garnier-Pagès, Glais-Bizoin, Pelletan, Picard, Rochefort, Jules Simon, representatives of Paris.
General Trochu is entrusted with full military powers for the national defence. He is summoned to the presidency of the government.
The government begs the citizens to be calm; the people will not forget that they are in the face of the enemy.
The government is before all a government of national defence.
