Putrefaction

PUTREFAC’TION, n. [L. putrefactio; putris; putrid, and facio,to make.] A natural process by which animal and vegetable bodies are disorganized and dissolved, or reduced to their original separate elements. Putrefaction is greatly accelerated by heat and moisture.
