Smith v. Allwright
Smith v. Allwright On 3 April 1944, the Supreme Court reversed (8–1) Grovey v. Townsend and held that the Fourteenth and Fifteenth amendments forbid political parties to ban blacks from voting in primaries that choose candidates for federal and state elections.
