Higher Education Act (29 June 1967) This measure, part of the Great Society, significantly expanded federal aid to colleges by appropriating $547,200,000 in low-interest loans and scholarships for disadvantaged students, grants for state education programs, funds for improving libraries and laboratories, and an extension of the Teacher Corps.
